The IELC and the LCMS partner to build new classrooms for an elementary school in Vaniyambadi.
In 1917, LCMS missionaries started an elementary school in Vaniyambadi, Tamilnadu. This IELC aided elementary school is in the Ambur Synod and serves the Adi Dravida people. The school has served the people of this region by nurturing them spiritually, physically, mentally and socially to grow into upstanding citizens.
The buildings of the school were quite old. The educational department of the state government required that the school build new buildings or close permanently. The government was concerned about the buildings collapsing while the students were in school.
The IELC President Rev. S. Rajagambeeram and the Ambur Synod President Rev. K. Victor applied for a grant from the LCMS to build new classrooms, which the LCMS granted.
After the old structures were demolished, construction on the new buildings began. The report states, “The school authorities and the local congregation pastor, Rev. C. Kumanan thankfully acknowledge the timely help and support of the LCMS and its officials, Rev. John Fale, Mr. Darin Storkson, Rev. Roger James, Mrs. Mary Hamilton, Mrs. Barbara Hoffmann, Mr. Ravi C. Jesupatham and others.”
